Looking for a new direction? I f you have a new camera (or an old camera that you no longer use); if you want to move past "Point and Shoot"; if you want to open the doors to creative control, these sessions may be for you. If you want better pictures without acquiring a Masters Degree in Design (plus degrees in Chemistry & Physics) these classes may be the best eight hours you and your camera have ever experienced. If you are a beginner or have the Beginner's Mind, please join us!Just The Facts ... Each segment of this short course will present useful "cookbook" methods that can measurably improve your work. Although our time is limited, we will explore Portraiture, Nature, and Sports as well as all the basic stuff that camera manuals never tell you about. You will be able to apply these techniques to color print, color slide or black and white photography. Part of what you learn can even be applied to Digital Photography!Plus some Continuing Ideas ...Each week Ron will discuss another aspect of Learning To See. There will be a continuing visual scavenger hunt which will challenge your eyes and creativity. And, you'll learn ways to continue pursuing photography without breaking your piggy bank. Money and Equipment: Each session is $15 (cash or check). Total cost for four sessions is $60, but if you pay in full, on or before the first session, your cost is $50. (No refunds unless a class session is cancelled by the instructor.)You should have -- A 35mm SLR camera which can be controlled manually, an electronic flash for your camera, a pocket notebook, and a three ring binder to store class handouts. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: a good tripod, a "gray card", and a remote release. Plan to expose (and have processed) at least two rolls of color slide or color print film each week. Reserve at least two hours each week for the Scavenger Hunt and (boo! hiss!) homework (I promise it will be Fun!)About your Guide: Ron Frakes is a local fine-art photographer lately retired from 25 years in the world of commercial photography. His work has been exhibited at Art on the Square, Grailville, Gallery 99 and Essex Studios. Ron's articles on photographic technique have appeared in the British magazine Camera and Darkroom.
